Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!

Happy Christmas and Happy New Year Everybody!!!! I hope you ate lots of mince pies and chocolate over the holidays and not put on too much holiday weight!!!!

Over here in Lanzarote it has been a crazy busy month!

The Santa Dive was a success, it was a weird sight seeing lots of Santa's entering the water at Playa Chica! Santa arrived by para-sending in, where he met his "reindeer" disguised as a camel! It was a very hot day and by the time everyone entered the water everyone was boiling, so the firemen hosed all the Santas' down!!! The dive was great fun with rays, sharks, squid and octopus being sighted! As well as that the Reindeer was found! Well done to Jim and Irwin from Manta Diving Lanzarote who found Rudolph and won a holiday for 2 to Sardinia with diving included! After the dive everyone chilled out, ate paella, drank lots of beer and danced away to the Beatles Tribute band.

The snow has been a dampener this Christmas with people struggling to get here but those who did had a fabulous time diving! Some even experiencing some choppier water! With it being winter we experience the few days a year where the wind comes from the South and chops up Chica! One day the beach even got shut! However the rest of the time the water has been fairly calm and many people have been introduced to the underwater world this Christmas and been hooked!  Many PADI courses have been done, congratulations to all those who have completed their course, enjoy your new certification!!!

Christmas Day was a beautiful sunny day this year, as usual! The lovely long walk on the beach was mandatory after the fabulous food we ate, and yes we did have turkey!!! Everybody showed off the new games they had, or the trick games that no-one could do! One of which was putting together a set of 4 wooden blocks into a letter T, sounds easy enough right? NOPE! People bet 30 seconds to do it, and it took more like 20 minutes!!!

On Christmas Eve there was a parade along the avenida. With all the Santas' throwing out sweets to the crowd! Well done to Lanzarote Business Association for organising such a fabulous event! My only request is more sweets please!!!!

The business association has been busy this December they also organised an incredible firework display on New Year's Eve. For those lucky enough to see it, wasn't it awesome?! For those who didn't here are a couple of photos from it!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all! I hope you all have a fabulous 2011!!!!

E is for Excited!!!!

Tomorrow is the Santa Dive over in Playa Chica, Lanzarote! We are raising money for Save our Seas. Over here we can't wait, all the outfits are ready, waiting to be worn! 1 more sleep to go! We have the camera all charged up raring to be used!

There is a folk tale in Spain that papa noel was travelling when a storm struck and they got lost at sea! One of his reindeers "Rudolph" got lost and Santa needed all the help he could get. So all the scuba divers did what they did best and went diving to find and recover Rudolph.

So to promote protecting our oceans this is being re-enacted and after Santa arrives by sea, all the divers are going on the hunt for the missing reindeer! We will let you know who finds it...but fingers crossed it will be me!

Pictures to follow....
